Dear All:

Can anyone tell me how to edit the FSB.cfg file to get it to work with Active Sky VI (ASv6) to use winds aloft? My config settings are below. ASv6 is in the following directory on my hard drive:

F:\Flightsimulator9\Modules\ASv6

My FSB config currently looks like this:

[FSBUILD]
AUTOREFRESH_DELAY=1
MAGYEAR=2002
AIRCRAFT=B737-700 w/ CFM56-7B24
SBPC_SERVER=www.vatsim.net
ROUTELINE=1
NATRAKURL=www.natroutes.glideslope.de/html/nats.php3
WEATHERPROG=ACTIVESKY

[MS-FLIGHTSIMULATOR]
FS_HOME=F:\FLIGHT SIMULATOR 9
AS2004=F:\FLIGHT SIMULATOR 9\MODULES\ACTIVESKY2004

[FLY!]

[PS1]

[X-PLANE]

[STARTUP]
CLEARMAP_BEFORE_BUILD
DISPRTEWPTSONMAP
WINDS_ALOFT
RVSM_FL
AUTOREFRESH_ON

What do I have to change on the above to get FSbuild to use the latest version of Active Sky? Also - I have selected the "use winds aloft" in the options menu of FSbuild.

Also, I seem to have to select the Browse - Active Sky 4 and also the Browse Active Sky directories (the latter of which I am pointing to ASv6) in order to get ANY weather program options to show up in the weather choice programs menu. Otherwise I do not even get a choice of ANY weather programs in the weather box. How do I get ASv6 to show up in the drop down box for weather choices?

Anyone?

Thanks so much.

Still don't see ANY weather choices in the drop down menu on FSB2.

My now edited FSBconfig file looks like this:

[FSBUILD]
AUTOREFRESH_DELAY=1
MAGYEAR=2006
AIRCRAFT=B737-700 w/ CFM56-7B24
SBPC_SERVER=www.vatsim.net
ROUTELINE=1
NATRAKURL=www.natroutes.glideslope.de/html/nats.php3
WEATHERPROG=ACTIVESKY2004-ASV

[MS-FLIGHTSIMULATOR]
FS_HOME=F:\FLIGHT SIMULATOR 9
AS2004=F:\FLIGHT SIMULATOR 9\MODULES\ASV6

[FLY!]

[PS1]

[X-PLANE]

[STARTUP]
CLEARMAP_BEFORE_BUILD
DISPRTEWPTSONMAP
WINDS_ALOFT
RVSM_FL
AUTOREFRESH_ON

Does this look correct yet? Why do I not see any choices for ANY weather programs? I selected the export directory for Active Sky 2004 as such:
F:\FLIGHT SIMULATOR 9\MODULES\ASV6

The export directory for ACTIVE SKY is now blank. Do I have to fill that in too?

I really appreciate any help you can give with this. I am getting really frustrated. Of course, I selected the "Apply winds aloft Data" box in the settings page.

Thanks again.

Hi,
I also have ActiveSky.
In the options section.
Did you press the BROWSE button to the left of the ActiveSky 2004 selection and then locate your ActiveSky program?
I did that, and it then showed my complete path.
Then go to the SETTINGS tab and "save" your configuration.
Then I exited Fsbuild.
Then started Fsbuild again to observe the change.

Best Regards,
Vaughan Martell

Definitely did that. Thanks. For some reason, I get no choices to show up in the weather programs menu.

Hi,
Which program menu are you looking at?

When you do the browse, the path you selected should show up next to the active sky line item.
When you then go to the settings tab and click on save configuration button Fsbuild will update the fsbuild configuration file.

Then, you exit fsbuild for the changes you made to become available.
Then you can re-start fsbuild and you should be good to go.

Maybe you will have to open the fsbuild config file and erase the weather line and save it prior to doing the selections.

The whole idea in saving the config file is so fsbuild will automatically update your config file for you.

Any time you make any change(s) to fsbuild you will have to go to the setings (tab) and click save configuration ... and exit fsbuild program.

You are only one step away from having it work properly!

Regards,
Vaughan Martell

This is the way it updates my config file for FSB:

[FSBUILD]
AUTOREFRESH_DELAY=1
MAGYEAR=2006
AIRCRAFT=B737-700 w/ CFM56-7B24
SBPC_SERVER=www.vatsim.net
ROUTELINE=1
NATRAKURL=www.natroutes.glideslope.de/html/nats.php3
WEATHERPROG=ACTIVESKY

[MS-FLIGHTSIMULATOR]
FS_HOME=F:\FLIGHT SIMULATOR 9
ACTIVESKY=F:\FLIGHT SIMULATOR 9\MODULES
AS2004=F:\FLIGHT SIMULATOR 9\MODULES\ASV6

Do the paths in both sections seem correct? I seem to be doing as you described above, but I do not get any weather choices in the drop down box except one that is labeled ACTIVESKY and I do not get one that is labeled AS2004-V or something like that. Am I making any sense?

Hi
Did you use notepad to delete the two lines (active sky) in the fsbuilds configuration file first and save the changes in notepad.

Then on the fsbuild options you should only have one path for active syk selected.

There are two lines:
ActiveSky line should not have a path
ActiveSky 2004 should have the correct path ... use the browse button to find it.

Then settings tab ... click on save configuration then exit fsbuild.
Now use notepad to look at the fsbuild config file again.
It should have put the correct path to your active sky program

Regards,
Vaughan Martell

[MS-FLIGHTSIMULATOR]
FS_HOME=C:\PROGRAM FILES\MICROSOFT GAMES\FLIGHT SIMULATOR 9
AS2004-ASV=C:\PROGRAM FILES\MICROSOFT GAMES\FLIGHT SIMULATOR 9\MODULES\ACTIVESKY2004
RC99_ADV=C:\PROGRAM FILES\RCV4
GATEKEEPER=C:\PROGRAM FILES\GATEKEEPER

After you get this part right
Go back to fsbuild
settings tab
right hand side next to weather press the drop down arrow
select active sky
save configuration button
exit fsbuild program

restart fsbuild program

Thanks for the help ...but.....

Here is my config file as exactly you said:

[FSBUILD]
AUTOREFRESH_DELAY=1
MAGYEAR=2002
AIRCRAFT=B737-700 w/ CFM56-7B24
SBPC_SERVER=www.vatsim.net
ROUTELINE=1
NATRAKURL=www.natroutes.glideslope.de/html/nats.php3
WEATHERPROG=AVTIVESKY2004-ASV

[MS-FLIGHTSIMULATOR]
FS_HOME=F:\FLIGHT SIMULATOR 9
AS2004-ASV=F:\FLIGHT SIMULATOR 9\MODULES\ASV6

As soon as I do this, I re-launch FSB and there is no Export directory set in the options page for Active Sky 2004. So- I reset the directory to F:\Flightsimulator9\Modules\ASv6, save this config, then reopen the FSB config file to find that it keeps altering the changes you told me to make. I am so hopelessly lost. I even tried uninstalling & reinstalling the program to start over, but that didn't work either. No matter WHAT I try, I still get NO CHOICES in the weather program drop-down menu. Nothing at all is showing up for choices. Do you have any idea why I get no choices now that I edited the CFG file exactly as you said? I don't even see a drop down arrow to click on.

Editor's note! I just closed the folders view completely & not I finally see the option to use the drop down arrow for weather. Now - what do I do - the only choice for weather is for Active Sky IV.

Maybe we're getting closer! Any ideas?

"Then just buuild a flight plan, and you will see the winds displayed on the last column of the waypoint table/grid, and also they will be displayed in the Navlog."

Does this mean I will never see the winds if I do not configure this correctly. I mean - will the winds column be blank down the column? Do any of the stored routed (like KBOS-KLAX) have the winds included in the stored route? How can I tell if it is working correctly?
