Hi Ernie,
I realize it might not have been an entirely appropriate post - this is after all an ISG1 support forum, but I thought it might alleviate some questions.
If nothing else, those videos answered a lot of my questions, and will save you answering many questions
I really can't tell you why, but after watching those videos, my FMS has been behaving much better. Of course, it is because I am setting it with better understanding of what I am doing and why, but I swear it feels like the thing has simply decided to behave itself.
Incidentally, since I fly mostly the 738, I found of particular interest site. Did you know the real ND can confirm a VOR ID, yet supply DME from a different source if that source is on the same frequency, in range, and the intended VOR lacks DME capability? See a little past half way down the page.
If I may tack on one question here...
I'm still having trouble with STARs. Tpnight I was flying on VATSIM KALB to KCLT. I wasn't expecting any ATC near Charlotte, so I was planning on simply flying a self-assigned vector approach to ILS 19R (I think it was). 200Nm out, another center controller came on, and wanted to handle my flight. He asked me if I could fly a STAR (I can't remember which one it was - started with "M"). I was feeling bold with my new knowledge and said yes. He assigned it and told me to cross MAYOS at FL220.
I went to APP/DEP, selected Dep, Rwy 19R, the M???? STAR, Executed it, then went looking for MAYOS to set the crossing altitude... No MAYOS, not in the route or the legs.
I did not see any transitions offered when I selected the approach. Should I have? I could recreate the flight plan, wait till I'm about the same distance out, and get some screenshots if that would help.
I know this is a little vague, but I don't know what you need to know
