Ernie,

Many thanks for the update to your invaluable program. One request from my cockpit. Would it be possible to set up an export for the FSX Maddog 2008 so that the flight plans go to [FSX Folder]/Maddog2008/Routes, please.

I'd really appreciate the help.

Justin Friedland

Hi!

@Ernie, thanks for the update. Seems to work very well ;-)

@Justin. If you don't know how to make batch files, (make a google search). I have made a little command, so that you don't have to manually copy/paste the maddog fp's.
You're folder structure may look different from mine. Remeber to put in the " as in the text:

1. The first line will start FSbuild in a maximized window. Before this batch, I always had problems with the window size. If you don't like it, simply remove the /MAX
2. You have to start the .bat file instead of the FSbuild.exe. Build your flightplan and export, as you probably always has done, to the MADDOG. After you exit FSbuild, the batch command will then move the flightplan from \MADDOG2006\routes to \MADDOG\Routes.

START /WAIT /MAX E:\Programmer\FSBuild\Fsbuild2.exe
MOVE "D:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\MADDOG2006\routes\*.*" "D:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\MADDOG2008\Routes\"

!!!You have to put the .bat file in the installation folder of FSbuild!!!

I hope this is not in violation with forum rule and program copyright, since i don't tamper with orig. .exe

Brgds
Soren

While I appreciate all the workarounds (my thanks to Soren) I was hoping that us Maddog drivers could get direct support from the program.

The Lago Maddog was 1)FS9 technology and 2) hasn't been made since early 2000-something, when the Leonardo folks took it over and updated it for FSX.

It would seem to me to be a fairly simple matter to adapt the program to produce a proper Leonardo Maddog 2008 flight plan and send it (or allow us to browse to) the right folder so the FMC can pick it up and use it.

Really would appreciate it. Or, if there is a patch that Ernie can post that we can put into the program at our own risk, that would be fine too.

Thanks again.

I agree it's a pain...which is why I suggested the possibility of a user-applied patch so that you don't have to keep readjusting the program for those of us who have gone with the updated Maddog.

FS Build is an invaluable program and is an integral part of my, and I'm sure thousands of simmers, virtural flight experience.

Anything you could do would be appreciated. In the meantime, I'll log into the Leonardo forum and suggest that they figure out ONE folder that will handle flightplans, no matter WHAT they call the next iteration.

Thanks again,

:!: Or, could you just make it a browseable entry, where the user could pick the folder, be it 2006, 2008 or whatever?

Man, talk about service.

Many thanks Ernie, both for the quick response and the fine program!

BUT.....I'm now confused, because after downloading and installing both 2.4.0.7 and 2.4.0.8 the flight plan for the MD-80 still points to the Lago folder (which does not exist for those of us who fly the Leonardo 2008 version) and so the problem still exists. Have I missed something? I thought the change was going to be a browseable destination for the created plan, which would then have served all Maddog pilots, no matter what version they flew.

I stand corrected. I discovered the new trick you taught the program this afternoon while creating a flight plan for the MD-11. The Maddog plan was created and placed perfectly in the Maddog2008\routes folder. I did not try to use it, but since it is in the .mdr format, I assume it will work correctly, and again, you have my thanks.
