Hi All,

I'm trying to integrate ISG with a jet airliner and am using the Smiths FMS.

I'm having trouble with the default speeds, they seem to be semi random and not what I have in the cfg file (although everything else in the file is there).

I would like to have default speeds of 350/0.76 300/0.78 350/0.8 for CLB CRS DES. I can usually get the climb and cruise IAS to be close but the descent and Mach numbers are way out.

What should I put in the cfg file to get these speeds?

Does the cost index actually change anything? (It doesn't seem to in mine)

As a new feature, what are the chances of having the V speeds automatically calculated (using the same code/files in FSBuild)?

Thanks for your help,

Ian

There's no spd values in your .cfg file.

For example for Climb, you'd have to use 'ClimbIas=350' or ClimbTas=350'.

(Note when calculating the FPA it will always use TAS, so if you preset ClimbIas, it will convert that to the TAS equivalent of about 15000 ft)

Also if you preset the CostIndex in th .cfg, then it will not use the ClimbIas values, it will set the speed via the min Max table. So for your table a Cost Index of 20 would equate to a climb speed of about 278.

If you manually enter a Climb Speed on the CLB page, this inhibits the Cost Index. It will not use the Cost index again untill you change the Departure airport ID.

Regards.
Ernie.

Hi Ernie,

Thanks for clearing up the CI bits, so if I preset the cost index to 130 then that should give me nearer the speeds I want (approx 322, 279, 328). Will not having the speed set in the cfg be an issue or is it OK to just use the min/max/CI to come up with them?

Do you have any idea why the descent speeds are so out? I thought I was setting limits of 250 and 370 but it seems to be being ignored, in fact, it looks like the cruise speeds are being ignored and the descent speeds used for the cruise.

Is there any way to force a Mach number here or will it just calculate them from the IAS?

Many thanks,

Ian
