Hi and thanks for the 1.8 update. What controls the rose/arc/chart modes with the C17 MFD? I have the C17 control panel open but the only things it affects are navaids, airports, range, and FPL. I tried using the MD80 EFIS and it activates TCAS but nothing else. Have read through all the docs, but I admit the possibility of missing something. I appreciate any advise.

It uses LVars (remember this was orginally made for Virtavia's C17) , if you are only using one MFD instance (ie you don't need the multiple MFD's to operate independently
in the panel). Use Lvar 'MFDX1'

Setting MFDX1 to values 0,1,3,4 will change the modes.

0 - PFD
1 - ND
3 - ENG
4 - CFG

2 is reserved for the Map mode of Virtavia's C17 (it displays the default GPS map in this mode), if MFDX1 were to be set to 2 the gauges would go blank.

Setting MFDX1 to 1 successively will cycle through the Rose, Map, and Chart modes.

You will need an XML gauge to set the LVar do this...

Example (from the Area51 C17 Retrofit )...

<Gauge Name="Fuel MFD Icon" Version="1.0">
<Image Name="Icon_MFD.bmp" ImageSizes="18,40,18,40"/>
<Mouse>
<Help ID="ND"/>
<Cursor Type="Hand"/>
<Click>4 (&gt;L:MFDX1 mode, enum)</Click>
</Mouse>
</Gauge>

This sets MFDX1 to 4 which displays the CFG mode.

I'd check out the Area51 retrofit as that is a good example of how to add this gauge to a aircraft other than the
Virtavia C17.

http://www.isgsim.com/?page=panel_libra ... area51_c17

There's alsoa retrofit for the Virtavia C17 on the retrofits page as well.

If you are adding this to an aircraft other than the Virtavia or Area51 C17', let me know which one it is, and
I'll try and help you with it.

The MD80 EFIS settings would only apply to the MD80 EHSI.

Regards.
Ernie.

Thanks a lot Ernie, I'll look at the panel cfg's and let you know. I was attempting to set up an A380 panel as a little exploration into the new gauges.
Cheers,

OK, I admit defeat. After flying the Overland A380 with the C17 PFD/MFD I would like to see if you can come to my aid and enable all the ND modes to work. These gauges are exceptionally smooth and clear! Here is the panel layout: Thank you for your time and efforts Ernie.

See the attachment.

You can replace the Icon bitmaps to one's you more prefer when you've got it set up.

The /button folder will need to be extracted as a subfolder of your panel folder for this to work.

Regards.
Ernie.

Ernie, thanks very much for that. I'm not sure why that seemed so cryptic to me. All is working well and I appreciate your time.
Cheers,
