After experimentation using the MCU and GNS, I was able to enter the crossing alt in the MCU, and the GNS would display the desired crossing altitude, and give the requisite FPA required to meet that restriction.
The trick was, you can only request one altitude at a time. In my example (BSR2), I entered the 12K at SKUNK via the MCU. The GNS gave me the FPA to cross SKUNK at 12K. The next cross was BOLDR at 10K. If I entered that in the MCU, the GNS would give me the FPA for 10K at BOLDR. I just couldn't have both altitudes in the MCU at the same time.
