Almost all the airports I'm flying to are at sea level, yet the VNAV will not initiate a descent to the last (and often, the waypoint before) waypoint.

Just thought I'd update this after having made a number of other flights.

1. the VNAV button remains yellow, throughout the process, even after the VNAV kicks off and the plane stops it's descent.

2. One of my initial theories was that it was the pitching tendency of lowering the flaps in the descent that was causing the VNAV to stop functioning. However, there doesn't seem to be any direct correlation between the two actions

3. This happens in different planes so I know it's not a bug in one particular plane.

4. I think out of thirty flights, I've seen the VNAV function correctly all the way to the airport once. Every other time, the T/D shows up, the correct altitude shows up on the PFD, the airplane begins it's descent, and then at some random point, it levels off and refuses to go lower, even though the VNAV button is yellow and the lower altitude is showing on the PFD.
