Hello

The wind data that FSBUILD is pulling from ASE does not agree with ASE winds for any waypoints speed and direction, I am sure everything is setup correctly and I can see FSBUILD reading ASE wind when I build but winds are way out, any idea what might be causing this

eg

ASE 280/75 for FL240 but FSBUILD says 190/20 thats way out and all waypoints in the flight plan are incorrect

Should not the FSBUILD Waypoint winds match the waypoint winds in Active Sky Evolution for the flight plan exported from FSBUILD and imported into ASE, the fsbuild winds are always significantly less in magnitude and direction, I have deleted the weather snaps shot files one in the weather folder and in the root ASE folder to ensure latest downloaded, I also have FSBUILD mapped to the ASE weather folder.thanks

ok so does this mean that I should only use FSBUILD winds for the fuel planning and ASE for the inflight weather such as programming the FMC flight winds etc, thanks

Yes, that's pretty much it... unless you are flying a very advanced add-on (iFly, PMDG, etc...) the FSB planner does a fair job for most aircraft that are profiled. It's good practice to go through the whole FMC INIT sequence and then check the PROG screen for an estimate of remaining fuel and (depending on how much you trust it) adjust fuel accordingly.

ASE winds aloft can be used for the FMC programming - in particular, the winds aloft and temp average on the briefing screen (with surface wind at airports unchecked) are useful. Some things to keep in mind: the winds shown are only accurate for the origin and destination at the moment of the briefing, most of the waypoint winds are interpolated winds whose accuracy can vary wildly; most winds will change with time as you fly so it is useful to update the briefing screen from time to time and update the waypoint winds aloft accordingly in conjunction with the SHFT+Z FS wind reports as a check; ASE doesn't do TAF forecast processing, so the real world weather may change dramatically from what you see on the brief; finally, if you use DWC or cloud smoothing the weather will differ from the RW weather.
