I decided tonight over 3 hours ago, to reinstall my purchased FSbuild program. I had so many snippets of files; I jsut re-downloaded from the simmarket site both my fsbuild setup file and the version 2.3 update.

:x I have searched the forums, tried the suggestions etc. After 3 hours of this .....I'm done!

Both in normal and safe mode..virus,malware disabled.

The install goes fine till it tries to install a file called pvxplore8.ocx. So I get a continuous Invalid Data error on the file in my windows/windows32 folder. I've tried the reg drop thing, I've tried the regsvr thing, tried registry reapir etal....the darn thing won't install past that point.

It locks up. I have to use Task Manager to stop the install!

I have windows xp home sp3.
Anti virus nod32 4, malware prevx 3

I am at a loss. I really enjoyed using this program in the past. But it just won't install anymore. If Ernie etall, can't get things squared away for me; I guess I'll have to find another flight planner tool..sigh..sucks!

David,

How did you Uninstall FSbuild from your PC?

Did you download the original product from SimMarket and install it and check it out prior to installing any updates? Did it run OK?

Search your hard drive for file name pvxplore8.ocx

Was it found anywhere like:
Windows\System32

Do you have this on your PC hard drive?:
windows/windows32 ??? folder???

Are you logged on the PC as Administrator?

vaughn.

FSbuild was uninstalled when I had to reinstall windows. I had never gottten around to reinstalling, as I wasn't using flight sim for a while.

after deciding install, I looked through my files. I wsn't sure which was the appropriate file, so I re d/l the fsbuild file. It turned out to be version 2.1.0.

Install went fine till it reached the copying file pvxplore8.ocx, then got the invalid data error.

Uninstalled fsbuild using the add/remove. then I checked the the ffile was indeed in the sys32 directory...it was. Since fsbuild is copying the file into the dir anyway, I removed that file from sys32, to allow fsbuild to copy its file there. Got the invalid data error again.

Each time the install would stop...I would then have to use task mgr to get out of it.

Check the fsbuild dir, the installed files were there, out of curiosity; I double clicked on the fsbuild.exe to see if anything would start...nope

So uninstalled again, this is were I am right now.

in the process of trying to fix my ocx error, I have induced more problems now. fsbuild is on the back burner...just trying to get my machine to boot now. :(

David,

Ok, it was not a problem with FSbuild.
You had a computer problem and reinstalled your OS.

Some kind of problem still existed on your PC when you reinstalled FSbuild.

In your first post you mentioned also installing a FSBuild update..which you did not mentioned in your last post here.

So, there is still a missing link to deal with here. As your original setup, before the PC failure, installed FSBuild without a problem.

I think you have a problem with your PC now.

How old is your PC and have you recently upgraded anything on it?

Are you sure FSbuild was trying to copy the file to your PC or "use" a file that you deleted?

So, what has happened here in the end? Did you get your computer fixed, does FsBuild run on it now? We want to read about a happy end :)
