Hi All:
Just repurchased FSB - this time for FSX. I am trying to get it to work with my newly purchased ASX. I went through this nightmare 2 years ago with FS9. I have read most of the posts I can find on the subject and I cannot still seem to get it to work. Here is what I know - I have no other version of AS on my new computer - just ASX. I checked the box to include the winds aloft data. I saved the config file. I pointed to what I believe is supposed to be the ASX directory - namely: Program Files, HiFi - XEngine. I have saved everything. I relaunch FSB, and still I only get 0s to show up in the winds column. My only choice is ActiveSKY in the weather menu (which is now chosen). I also cannot find any file that seems to reference my weather snapshot ending in .txt. Active Sky X is working fine. I just can't seem to get it to talk to FSB. Can anyone help me?

Thanks,

Chris Catalano

In the FSBuild2.cfg file.
The word Activesky will appear 2 times.
Change the spelling to AS6 and SAVE it.
Start FSbuild and use the path in the OptionsExport directories use AS6.
In Options settings Weather use AS6
SAVE it
In build Optinns select apply winds aloft
SAVE it
Exit FSBUILD
Recheck the cfg file is ok
Restart FSBUILD

Still no luck. I am pretty certain I followed the directions carefully as they are farmiliar from the old FS9 issues I used to have before we solved that. I am also a bit confused - remember, I don't have AS6 on this new computer. I purchased ASX yesterday, and it works fine with no conncetion to the old AS6. AS6 is not even on this new computer. So, I am not sure why I am trying to refercne AS6. I should also add thet the word "ACTIVE SKY" is no longer present in the weather choices menu any more - only Active Sky 6. Finally, was I supposed to select anything in the (newer) Active Sky export directory as well or just the Active Sky 6 Export directory?

Any other ideas?

Thanks so much.

Fsbuild only knows ActiveSky (old) and AS6 (for all new versions of ActiveSky. So, you will use AS6.
Her is my cfg file.

** Your path to ASX will be AS6=C:\ ... whatever it is now.
At this point you are very close to being done!

Here is mine. It looks very similar to yours, only I am using FSX, and my path to ASX is different. Anything look funny here to you why this should not be working for me?

Thanks again.

You have:
AS6=C:\PROGRAM FILES\HIFI\XENGINE

Should it be:?
AS6=C:\PROGRAM FILES\HIFI\XENGINE\ASX\Weather

There is no such directory or folder in ASX called Weather, not even in the ASX Folder. Sigh....

Ok,
We are looking for a file named current_wx_snapshot.txt

Where is it (c:\...xxx ) on your computer?

Are you using Windows XP or Vista?

If you have not put this into your cfg file and saved it then give it a try.
AS6=C:\PROGRAM FILES\HIFI\XENGINE\ASX\Weather

We are looking for a file named current_wx_snapshot.txt
on your PC?

If you have started ActiveSky it was created.
Maybe the directory is "restricted".
Are you logged in as administrator?

I added that addition to my ASX Path - still no luck. Also - still can't find that file you suggested anywhere.
I am logged in as myself. Does this matter? Not sure if it is "restricted"?

Ok,
You may have to manually find it by double clicking on MyComputer, then "C" ... if it is on your C drive? then the next directory etc in the ActiveSky path until you find it.

Be sure to include the "underscore" characters.

current_wx_snapshot.txt

Did you add it to the CFG file or to the "search" you did of your Hard Drive?

Still no file. I am copying and pasting the file into the search engine. I am even using the advanced search option of searching hidden files, subfolders, and even searching for partial matches to the file. Are you certain that ASX uses this file for it's snapshot like AS6 used to?
Also - yes C: is my main drive designation

Did you try changing the cfg file and saving it?

I am not sure how your pc is set up ... restricted directories etc.

Just log on as Administraror and you will have access to the entire hard drive.

Yes - here is my updated CFG file. Also - I believe I have full access to the entire hard drive since I am the only user, and I did not place any new restrictions to this brand new computer.
