Just entered the flight plan for United Airlines 897 May 25 - a flight that had to return to Dulles with an engine failure on takeoff. Having entered the original flight plan as per the FlightAware site, it uses J227 between MICAH and ULW but for some reason, after arriving at TOC the plan goes to VALLO and then OGESY on J227, but VALLO is 92° EAST of the route, so clearly is NOT correct. I can delete it manually from the route, but it returns when I press BUILD again.
KIAD JERES J220 MICAH J227 ULW SYR J559 YOW MT 5500N07500W 6000N07500W 6500N07500W 7000N07600W 7500N07700W 8000N07900W 8500N08500W 8900N14100W DEVID B480 TOLIK B480 UOHH B480 OVEDA B480 KUMAR B480 BRT G490 CS G490 NH B155 IRK A815 SERNA M520 MODUN M520 POLHO G218 TMR B458 TZH A596 KM ZBAA is the entered data for the route, and the problem shows up right at the start of the flight's route.
This is a 15.5 hour detour using a 747 <grin> - Simply removing J227 from the plan gets rid of the problem, so the difficulty is definitely with the J227 data.
The actual flown route never got over 5000 feet and simply circled and got down to landing weight and successfully returned to Dulles, incidentally... Watched it land on MSNBC...
